- There’s a Japanese acronym called “Hou-Ren-Sou”. Hourensou, as a noun itself, literally means spinach. But it’s also short for hou(koku), ren(raku) and sou(dan), which means “to report”, “to provide update”, and “to consult”. In business setting, all this is to promote better communication between a team. That’s why Mase was saying Kurata needs to improve on his “hou-ren-sou”.
