Tsubaki and Nao are individually preparing for the New Year’s Eve showdown and it’s stressful for both of them for different reasons. Tsubaki has to deal with pressure from his mom, while Nao is dealing with the pressure to not fail. What will be the outcome? This is an extended episode to cover the last big finale.
Translation Notes/Trivia
- Yuzu is a type of citrus. It’s said to be very fragrant, and used as flavor in many things, including yuzu tea, yuzu ice cream, yuzu alcohol, yuzu salt, etc. Princess Yuzu (姫柚子) is a type of yuzu that is smaller, with less seeds.
- Sweets
- Nankin is another way to call kabocha squash (they’re like green pumpkins). The sub didn’t fully explain this well, but he’s saying: eating words with “n” during winter will help increase your luck, so that’s why the store chooses to call them “nankin” instead of “kabocha manju” during the winter season.
- Manju are basic sweets where a filling is wrapped with a thin dough.
- Doumyouji-mochi and sakura-mochi are really interchangeable as both are made with doumyouji-flour.
- karukan came from the word “karui” (lightweight) + yokan.
