Miman Keisatsu – Episode 5

On Kai and Jiro’s first day out after their probation period, they show up at a club in the middle of a drug bust. Later, they learn that the police is chasing after the ringleader of the drug dealers, who also turns out to be Jiro’s childhood friend. The police asks Jiro and Kai for help, and thus they go on their first undercover mission.

Translation Notes/Trivia

• It’s common in Buddhism to mourn for 49 days, so the 49th day ceremony is to mark the end of the mourning.
• Culture: In Japan, every child receives a “Maternal and Child Health Handbook“. This was introduced to help increase infant mortality rate. The book essentially tracks child growth from pregnancy to age 6, includes checklist of different milestones, and immunization records.
• American culture: Puma is a slang for women in late 20s/early 30s.
