Koi wa Tsuzuku yo Dokomade mo – Episode 2

Episode 2 starts with Sakura being welcomed into the cardiology department as their official nurse. She’s immediately assigned to shadow Tendo (and becomes Team Tendo) but will she survive his spartan training and sadistic remarks?

Translation Notes/Trivia

  • Tendo’s is your stereotypical “Do-S” character (literally translated to “Super-S”) where normally the “S” stands for sadistic. Because they just say Do-S, the running joke is that he can be both super stoic and super sadistic at the same time.
  • It is part of Japanese politeness to describe *every* *single* *action* the nurse takes. And every time they touch the patient, or get too close to them, they literally say “pardon me”. It doesn’t sound natural in English, but not translating those lines will also be unnatural. The cultural difference I’ve experienced is that in US, the nurses try to keep a conversation with you to distract you from the discomfort. In Japan, they tell you everything about it so you don’t get uncomfortable.
  • Team Tendo or Team Kisugi is of course, a double entendre. It means a doctor-nurse assignment as they described in the show, but they hint at it as also being “a fan of…” Tendo or Kisugi.
  • I decided to keep edamame and tonkatsu as-is because I’m starting to see them used in Japanese restaurants in US. I classify those words to be as mainstream as sushi now.
  • In Japan, operation room nurses are classified by function into 1) those who hand tools to doctors during the operation, and 2) those who does everything else. In US, it seems the nurses are classified by time, into pre-op, intra-op, and post-op nurses.

  1. This is the first time I came across this website. I like how you put notes on the cultural context of what’s happening in the drama instead of just subbing it. I’m asian and even then I dont always understand the significance or meaning of what the characters did as they’re of a different culture so I imagine that it would be confusing for the non asian viewers as well so thank you for that👍

  2. This episode always give me a good cry, regain my trust to humanity. How a drama can be this good ? It was only 2 episodes in and I have bawl me eyes out because of Kanda-san dead, the aftermath of Sakura and how Tendo said it’s the same for everyone in the hospital then they roll the montage of how everyone their just depress when they lost a patient… just wow, it’s so beautiful. I know it too late now but I just decided to watch it recently, thank Blitz Fansub for your inceptional work on subbibg this drama… love you all. I just hope there will be more people like me, newcomer to this show and decide to watch it in 2023 because it so worth it ❤️.

P/S: sorry for my bad english
