In Hand – Episode 8

There’s a haunted poster in the Kigashima Holdings building lobby where red ink is splattered onto a person’s head to make it look like blood. Coincidentally, the heir to the Kigashima Holdings recently committed suicide by jumping off a building. Himokura, Makino and Takaie tries to find a correlation by breaking into the son’s house when they run into Endo, one of Himokura’s old classmates.

For some reason, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) is obsessively investigating the late son, Naotsugu, and his father, the current president of Kigashima, What are they looking for? How does it fit in with the haunted poster?

Translation Notes/Trivia

  • Spoilers
    • Ue-no-Takarajima is a fictional island, but it’s said to be located off the coast of Kyushyu which is an island with lots of American military bases.
    • MAOA is sometimes nicknamed “warrior gene.”
    • Founder Effect
    • This episode got a low rating because it doesn’t really progress the story, but I think it contained a very important message for Japan where racism and stereotypes are still rampant.
