Atom no Ko — Episode 9 END

The long-awaited finale! The shareholder’s meeting gets delayed by an hour, but it happens… despite various disruptions. Nayuta makes his presentation, Miyazawa makes their case, and then the votes are in! What will become of SAGAS?

Translation Notes/Trivia

  • Commentary: A lot of people make fun of Metaverse, and while investing in the nontangible is a terrible idea during recession, it’s actually super important for the future of the world. As Nayuta pointed out, virtual reality world helps “even out the playing field” for those discriminated against by their gender, disabilities, and location. At this point, the virtual reality technology is still crude and both Metaverse and e-Parkour looks very unrefined graphically. However, the technology it incorporates is cutting-edge, and more importantly… independent AI researchers like Tim, and indie game makers like John Doe needs these big corporations with deep pockets to invest money in them, so that these creators can keep on innovating. And likewise, Metaverse has invested a lot of money into independent AI research groups and universities to try and better the world.

  1. Thank you. I enjoyed this show immensely! Thanks for your hard work translating it. Happy New Year! Looking forward to new stuff!

  2. Your translation notes ignore the fact that this technology (AI and virtual reality) will be at the command of governments, corporations, and other occupants of positions of power. They don’t have a track record of benign treatment of the ordinary citizen. Looking forward to giving them even greater control over our existence disregards all we should have learned from human history. Only a child would trust them with these abilities.

  3. Even though I didn’t leave a comment in each episode, but I enjoyed my time watching this dorama. Thank you for taking this project!
