Tsubaki confesses his love to Nao. At the same time, Jojima starts giving her attention, even going as far as to invite her back to his room! What’s going to happen to the Tsubaki x Nao x Jojima triangle?!
Translation Notes/Trivia
- Japanese language jokes: In the cafe scene, Nao says “wah… wah…” and Jojima actually says “-style afternoon tea!” because “wah” is the same sound as wa (Japanese-style). He’s making a pun there and trying to say this is “Japanese-style afternoon tea” because it serves traditional sweets.
- Warabi-mochi is jelly made from warabi flour. However, most warabi flour sold in store is actually ground up sweet potato flour. True warabi-mochi is made from pure warabi flour, which is ground up bracken roots. The best ones are usually jiggly, watery, smooth, soft, but sturdy enough that it doesn’t split or fall apart into a mushy mess. It’s like eating water.
- And the best way to eat it is by sprinkling kinako (soybean powder) on it. Note if you are going to make this at home, I recommend you mix your store bought kinako with equal part white sugar, as kinako itself is dry and tasteless.
- Normally I would translate kinako into soybean powder but I felt like soybean powder have bad connotation in English (people equate it to whey) so I decided to keep it kinako.
- Hasami-giku is literally called “chrysanthemum made from scissor” because you use a scissor to cut the individual flower petals to replicate the flower.
- Kimono comes in either weaved or dyed fabric. Obviously weaved is more expensive.
- Kimono accessories all gets attached to the clothing (either in the obi, the fat thick belt, or in the slit near the collar).
- Dagger (kaiken) is an ornamental double-edged sword you stick into the obi (the fat center belt), historically for self protection. The practice to wear it for wedding started in 1900.
- This week’s traditional song is called hana ichi monme. I suspect there’s not much relation to the children’s game except the line “We want that kid”. In the game, it’s a line used to identify who they want to steal from the opposite team.
- Tanabata is a festival celebrating love. It’s said to be the single day of the year in which these star-crossed lovers (stars on opposite side of the milky way) are allowed to meet.

Thank you so much for the sub! thats fast.
But I kind of confuse with Nao’s motive. I thought she want a revenge but, she still want them (especially the matron) to approve her. Probably she her deep inside, her aim is only to get the answer regarding her mother, instead of revenge. And Tsubaki.. gosh.. he is genuinely in love with Nao! The angsty is coming soon…
