Tsukioka Natsu has always been a little indecisive, and in college, he meets a girl named Nagumo Mizuki who is the complete opposite. She says what she means, and she does what she wants. One day, Mizuki finds out she’s pregnant and she asks Natsu to sign the paper agreeing to an abortion. Natsu hesitates, but eventually signs it. Couple months later, she drops out of college and he never hears from her again. Fast forward to 8 years later, he is living a comfortable life with his current girlfriend Momose Yayoi when he hears that Mizuki has died…

- Umi — In Japanese, “umi” can refer to anything from the sea, the ocean, the beach, and even to the little girl’s name.
- Natsu, the main character’s name, can also be interpreted as “summer”.
- In Japan, college “clubs” are closer to drinking groups who happen to share a similar hobby rather than true club that gets together and accomplishes something.
