Taira “Gaku” Manabu has always dreamed of working for Dragon Bank, Japan’s biggest tech company. While he’s super smart, he freezes up on the interview and as a result, ends up having to pick up part-time jobs to make a living. Tennoji Haru is not a computer-whiz, but he’s super charismatic and outgoing, and he easily convinces Dragon Bank executives to hire him. On the first day of the job, at orientation, Gaku runs into Haru while outside the Dragon Bank building, cleaning its windows… because Haru apparently had quit his job at Dragon Bank! Haru vows to make a company with Gaku that will be worth a trillion dollars.
Translation Notes/Trivia
- On technical jargon: don’t worry if it doesn’t make sense. It’s not suppose to make sense. They purposely change some terms, throw some obscure acronyms, and make up sentences with all the buzz words etc. so it sounds “mumble-jumble” to the general public.
- “I’ll take you all.” In Japanese, they’ve written “I’ll take all of you.” on the same frame.
- Haru’s signature phrase, 俺たちのわがままは世界一だ (oretachi no wagamama wa sekai ichi da) can be interpreted in 2 ways,
- Our demanding ways/selfish ways are the worst in the world
- We demand the best in the world.
and I believe that’s done on purpose, so the translation will shift around depending on context.
