Translation Notes/Trivia

• The mismatched couch that Hayame and Issei sits in front is revealed to be worth 3 million yen. Each of the 3 section is worth 1 million.
• Japanese expression: しわ寄せ (shiwayose). It means to get blamed for someone else’s mistake. In the exchange between Kikuno and Fujita, Kikuno says “Anytime there’s trouble, you get blamed for it.” Fujita claps back “It’s unfortunate that I gain more wrinkles every time it happens, but this is my job.” Fujita is making a pun because “shiwa” can mean wrinkles and “yose” means to gather. So she’s using humor to deflect Kikuno’s question. (Because I suspect Fujita thinks Kikuno is digging for dirt, and Fujita doesn’t want to give her any ammo) This is why Kikuno responds back “You’re so funny.”
• **Slight spoiler**: In Issei’s text to Hayame, he doesn’t specify who to slap. In Japanese language, subject is often dropped. This is what leads Hayame to think it means to slap Issei, whereas Issei meant to slap Saionji.
