Torajiro, the Iron Fist Tiger, is out of prison! Tatsu and Masa happen to run into him in town selling crepes, and thus starts a series of competition between Tatsu and Torajiro. Meanwhile, there is another rivalry brewing between the Women’s Club of Karyu and the next town over, Suiryu.
Translation Notes/Trivia
- Language
- Tatsu lives in “Karyu Town” which is written as “Fire Dragon Town” and the next town over is called “Suiryu Town” or “Water Dragon Town”.
- Anko/Enko: Anko is the red bean paste used to fill taiyaki and imagawa-yaki. Enko is yakuza-slang for fingers, especially when referring to cutting off fingers as part of punishment.
- Origin: 猿猴(enkou) meaning monkeys (who had long fingers).
- **Spoiler**: In the “Choose Your Blood” match, the word “choice” (選択, sentaku) is pronounced the same as laundry (洗濯, sentaku) so it’s a pun for “Laundry of Blood”.
- “You” — It’s rude in Japanese to refer to others as “omae” because they believe you should always refer to people by their names.
- Culture
- Napolitan is a Japanese-made pasta mixing spaghetti with ketchup. It was invented in Yokohama post-WWII.
- Annin Tofu is a sweet jelly. It’s not made out of soybeans at all, but rather just referred that way due to its shape.
- Taiyaki is pretty famous, and it’s called taiyaki because tai=carp and yaki=baked. Imagawa-yaki is exact same thing, but shaped like a hockey puck (or a drum, as some Japanese call it taiko yaki). It’s named after a famous Imagawa Bridge that was located near its original shop location (according to one theory).
- Although we say it’s baked goods, any -yaki is actually “pressed” like a waffle, rather than baked like a cake.
- Fighting Festival actually exist, but refers to something different in real life. Some festivals get so loud and violent that “it looks like a fight broke out” hence the name, Fighting Festival.

Thank you so much for translating! This episode was way better than the first. It had no pacing issues at all and the stories came together in the end beautifully. Glad they found an actor for Tatsu who can pull of the faces from the manga.
